Things we're working on 👋
Pick anything below, mark how it's going, and leave a comment if you have a question or update. Everyone sees it.
Registering the Company
Turning Pinzapp into an actual registered company: paperwork, documents, signatures.
Razorpay Rize is Razorpay's company-registration service, an online alternative to hiring a CA (Chartered Accountant) or CS (Company Secretary) firm to file the same paperwork. It walks Floyd and Abhi through the whole registration and prepares the legal forms for them. The steps below follow the order this process actually happens in.
Lock the company name (mostly done)
The name has to be confirmed as available right before filing, since names can get taken by someone else in the meantime even after an earlier check.
Claim the social handles (do this now, before someone else does)
Make names match on ID documents
Required from both founders. This matters because mismatched names are the single most common reason applications get rejected.
Aadhaar linked to a live mobile number
Required from both founders. This is needed for the digital signature step right below, since that's verified over Aadhaar-linked OTP (One-Time Password).
Digital Signature Certificate (DSC)
Required from both founders. This is the electronic signature used to sign the government forms later on. Worth starting early since it takes 1 to 2 days to come through, it can run alongside the document-gathering steps below.
Personal documents (Floyd and Abhi)
These are digital copies (clear photos or scans, signed by Floyd and Abhi) that get uploaded to the Razorpay Rize website. No physical originals are sent anywhere.
Registered-office documents (Floyd's house)
The house is jointly owned by Floyd and his father, so the father's sign-off is needed to use it as the company's office.
Run the Razorpay Rize application
With the documents and DSC above ready, this is where it all actually gets submitted.
Check the drafts before signing
Razorpay prepares the actual legal documents from what was submitted, so this is the last chance to catch a mistake before they're signed and filed.
Track it to approval
Once signed and filed, this is the waiting period until the government actually approves the company.
After the company exists (note now, do later)
These only become relevant once the company is actually approved, noted here so nothing gets missed later.
Protecting the Name
Making sure nobody else can use the Pinzapp name or logo.
Order: register the company first (about 2 weeks), then file the Indian trademark in the company's name, then file in the US within 6 months. Filing in the company's name, not Floyd's or Abhi's personal name, saves the trouble of transferring it later.
Hire an Indian trademark agent
A registered agent is the one who actually files the trademark application, similar to how Razorpay Rize handles the company registration above.
Decide what to protect
Trademark classes cover specific categories of goods/services, Pinzapp's app falls under two of them.
File the Indian trademark (Form TM-A)
This is the actual filing. The date it happens on matters a lot, see the note below.
Line up the US filing
Do this ahead of the 6-month deadline from step 3, US trademark law requires a licensed local attorney, it can't be filed directly.
File in the US within 6 months
The actual US filing, using the priority date locked in back in step 3.
IP assignment agreements (locks ownership to the company)
This is cheap and easy now, and very painful to sort out later during any funding or sale.
Keep proof of who made what
How to mark the brand
Creators in Mumbai
Getting local creators to make videos about Pinzapp.
Finalise the audience groups + the one-line hook for each
Each hook is the one sentence a creator's video should make someone feel, everything in step 2 below builds out from these.
Write the script templates
A template per audience group, built on the hooks above, so a creator has a clear beat-by-beat shape to film instead of a blank page.
Find creators
Whoever finds a creator is also the one who messages them and keeps their row in the table updated, not just Floyd and Abhi.
Track the creators found
Add each creator as a row in the table below as they're found. No separate spreadsheet needed, the status column tracks where each one is.
Reach out + agree terms
(Hosts show up here AND in the "Talking to Event Hosts" section. Keep them in one list, not two, using the same table's status column to track where each one is.)
Talking to Colleges
Bringing Pinzapp to college fests and events.
Build the target list
Colleges come from anyone's personal connections, not just Floyd and Abhi's. If you know someone at a college, or know someone whose contact is at a college, add it below, a warm intro beats a cold message. Every lead is worth adding, there's no need to rank them by size or anything else. The table's status column tracks contact, follow-up, and meetings, so there's no separate step for that.
Find the right person
For each college added to the table above, this is about finding the specific person to actually talk to there.
Build the college pitch
One shared pitch, reused for every college, rather than writing one from scratch each time.
Prep for the meetings
Once a college actually agrees to meet, this is what to bring.
Talking to Event Hosts
Getting small event organisers on board early.
Define who to look for
Map the ticketing apps
Beyond just searching Instagram, these apps are where smaller hosts already list their events, worth scanning directly for leads.
Find hosts
Whoever finds a host is also the one who messages them and keeps their row in the table updated, not just Floyd and Abhi.
Write the outreach script
This is what actually gets sent once a host is found, following the guaranteed-reach angle that's Pinzapp's edge over Instagram for this group.
